‘Bungee on the Beach 2006’ |
 |
 |
 |
All harnessed up the cage descends to pick me up!
Notice the hard stare of those inside! (they thought I was going to back out for sure!)
No such luck though… |
After hopping gracefully over to the cage with my ankles strapped together, helpful eh? The bungee rope is attached (securely I was hoping).
This is getting serious… |
Up, up and away! |
 |
 |
 |
<Ding Dong> “Top Floor!”
HELP!
Panoramic views of Brighton but all I could see was the ground, looking
suspiciously hard… |
Terra Firma here I come! |
Who said going back up again was a good idea? |
|
 |
 |
SUPERGIRL!
No further explanation needed I feel. |
Safely Down and feelin’ fine! (almost)
I always did like gravity.. |

On the 21st of October I took part in ‘Bungee on the Beach 2006’ to raise money for the Rockinghorse Appeal.
For anyone who doesn’t know, the Rockinghorse Appeal is an independent charity that provides additional medical equipment and services to children’s facilities in Sussex, including the Royal Alexandra Hospital, our only children’s hospital.
This year the focus of the charity is to equip the new children’s hospital that will replace the Royal Alex with the necessary equipment to treat the majority of children on site.
Up till now the facilities for treating very serious illnesses were un-available in Brighton and if you had need of these services a long trip up to either London or Southampton was in store. Hopefully, no longer! The aim is to raise a whopping £6 million and I knew I wanted to help.
Thankfully being a generally healthy child I had had little need of the children’s hospital nor the Rockinghorse Appeal personally, but, on my week of work experience at the Royal Alex I saw the great work of this charity in action; so much of the vital equipment in use around the hospital bore the plaque of the Rockinghorse Appeal.
When I got wind of the Bungee on the Beach I decided it was for me. Now being a teeny bit scared of heights I knew it would take a large amount of sponsorship to get me up that crane!
Fortunately, or unfortunately, all my family and friends, and even a few of my teachers, signed up to the cause and there was no backing out!
So, although my mum couldn’t persuade me not to jump, she did manage to make me share my experience with as many people as possible to see if we can’t raise even more for the Rockinghorse Appeal. So, here are a few photos of my big day and if you feel the need to donate please do either by sending your donation to
Or by going to the Rockinghorse website www.rockinghorse.org.uk/ |
