ANOTHER LONDON ROAD

On 26th May 2009, the council released its draft London Road Central Masterplan for a six-week public consultation. This is a chance for local people to have their say on how they want the area improved and to influence a document that will be used as a yardstick for making any decisions on planning applications.

4th to 6th June – Open exhibition hosted by the Council at the old Co-op building

9th &10th June – ‘Community Consultation’ hosted by ALR at Calvary Evangelical Church in Viaduct Road (next to the fire station) - Drop In Community Consultation from 6.30pm both evenings.

The World Naked Bike Ride

The World Naked Bike Ride is taking place in Brighton on Sunday 14 June 2009. Starting at 12 noon with a naked lunch and body painting at The Level, it will finish with a sea swim and picnic at the naturist beach in Kemp Town. Many bikes will be adorned with flags and flowers, and bodies painted with slogans, clothes stowed in panniers. Music will be provided en route by a number of mobile sound systems. 400 cyclists took part last year.

Sports Festival ’TAKEPART’ June 27th - July 12th
Not to be Missed

The two week Festival of Sport, TakePart, begins June27th with a massive one day event in Preston Park. This huge free event, the largest exhibition of sports and physical activities in the country, includes performances by and workshops with the world famous Team Extreme (the UK’s only professional team and incredible exponents of Skateboard, BMX, Inline skating, Breakdance, Streetball, Football, Freestyle) plus workshops with Brighton’s STOMP.

The Big Knit
at University of Brighton, Grand Parade. 7th June. 12.00pm - 4.00pm. 

It is a free event for all knitters and non knitters from the community and outside of Brighton.  Refreshments are available.  You don’t need to bring anything unless you have some knitting that you may already be doing and want to carry on with.
